How to export the IGC file from your instrument
October 17, 2026
The IGC file is the flight recording your instrument saves by itself. To upload it to RSFly.app you only have to find it: below are the most common routes, instrument by instrument.
What is the IGC file?
IGC is the standard format of flight recorders: a text file ending in .igc that holds the position, altitude and time of the flight. The instrument creates it by itself, one file per flight.
RSFly.app reads the file and turns it into a flight log, a replay and statistics. You do not need to convert or edit it.
Where do I find the export?
Menu names change with the version of the instrument’s software. The reference is the “Export IGC” or “Share” entry in the flight menu: the steps below are the most common ones, not an identical procedure for every version.
How do I export the IGC file from XCTrack?
Usually you open XCTrack and go to the list of recorded flights. Pick the flight and share it as an IGC file: you can email it to yourself or save it in your phone's files.
The same file is also in the XCTrack folder of the phone's storage, once you connect the phone to a computer.
How do I export the IGC file from a Flymaster?
Usually you connect the instrument to your computer and download the flights with the Flymaster software.
From the software, export the flight in IGC format and save the file on your computer.
How do I export the IGC file from a Skytraxx?
Usually you connect the Skytraxx to your computer with the USB cable. The computer recognises it as a drive.
The flights are files ending in .igc in the instrument's memory: copy the one you need.
How do I export the IGC file from an Oudie or SeeYou Navigator?
From the instrument’s flights menu or from the maker’s software, choose “Export IGC” or “Share” and save the .igc file.
How do I export the IGC file from Flytec and Brauniger?
From the instrument’s flights menu or from the maker’s software, choose “Export IGC” or “Share” and save the .igc file.
What if I use another instrument or app?
Almost every instrument saves the flight as a .igc file. Look for it in the instrument's memory or in its flights menu. If your app only saves another format, check whether it can export to IGC.
How do I check the file before uploading it?
Three checks are enough, before you upload the file to RSFly.app.
- The extension is .igc and the name has not been changed to .txt or .zip.
- Opened in a text editor, the first line starts with the letter A and further down there are lines starting with the letter B.
- The file has not been edited by hand: an edit can invalidate the security signature, if your instrument uses one.
In short
- The IGC is one file per flight, ending in .igc, created by your instrument.
- Each instrument has its own route: sharing from the app, USB as a drive, or the maker's software.
- Before uploading, check the extension and the content, without editing it.
